Winter has come and the Holidays and the Solstice are around the corner. It is a time of transition and change, as we reflect on the year which has past and the New Year, which beckons us onward. We took on publishing this e-publication because we love storytelling in all of its forms. This has been our way to build connections and community across the storytelling world.
For the past six months, we at The Story Beast have been dancing as fast as we can to create this e-pub and deliver to all of you something of quality and value at no cost. We have made the exciting decision to use a multimedia approach to transform the production of our flagship e-pub from monthly to quarterly. We will be publishing The Story Beast in the months of the solstices and equinoxes, December, March, June, and September.
To help maintain and build this community we have created among storytellers and artists, we have established the Beastly Blog (storybeast.org/blog). We will be posting snippets of new articles, stories, and even videos there, with references to the full pieces to be maintained in the Beast Bites Archive (storybeast.org/bites). January 2023 will be the beginning of a blog blitz. Please subscribe to the Beastly Blog to stay connected.
We created a YouTube Channel (youtube.com/@storybeastepub) where we will house videos from our contributing artists. February 2023 will feature videos and vlogs with behind-the-scene and reflections. Let us know what you would like to see in this e-pub and what you find helpful through the blog. This aligns with our vision of having a “Big Tent” where storytellers, artists, poets, and all art forms that use story are welcomed.

The leaves have turned their brilliant shades, the air is crisp, and the Days of Feasting and Celebration approach. For us at The Story Beast it is also a time of reflection and gratitude. In keeping with our November theme of Eternally Grateful, we are grateful for all of the time, talent, and effort so many folks have put into the creation and perpetuation of this e-Publication. We would never have gotten this far without the tireless dedication, sacrifice, and creative inspiration from all of our incredible volunteers in this communal labor of love. To everyone who has helped The Story Beast in its journey of discovery in any way, a heartfelt thank you.
We need your poems, stories, and artwork, as well as articles. December’s theme is Guiding Lights. Works do not have to fit the theme. This is your e-Pub and things which you all might find interesting get published. We love the creative submissions we have received so far and encourage all of you to keep them coming.

In creating The Story Beast, the editors were imagining a place for storytellers to find resources, inspiration, and each other. As we said in the first edition of The Story Beast, this e-publication is a “Big Tent.” We encouraged you to revel in the words, the stories, and the art. We told you to stay awhile, enjoy, and that you were home.
The articles and stories have come from tellers from across the country and around the world. Since beginning in July 2022, we have received many encouraging emails and messages leading us to believe that the journal truly is generating thought, discussion, and, thankfully, joy. Now, we want to add a space where the storytelling community can come together to interact directly with one another. The articles and stories can serve as launching points for dialog and collaboration.
IfThe Story Beast is the communal tent, then this blog may serve as our dining table where we may share the bread of wisdom with one another, where we may warm each other with our fired imaginations, and where we may go continually to replenish ourselves with the gift of each other.
We hope you will continue to send us your articles, stories, poems, and artwork, and we love receiving your feedback, even when you write to just say, “Hi.” Through The Story Beast, we feel that we have truly connected with you, our readers, who share the love of story. We hope this blog is a fitting addition to the journal, an added dimension, a safe and respectful place where you may find one another.
